2025 Awards — Hannah is awarded Simons Foundation Fellows-to-Faculty Award…. Pierre-Marie wins a Weill Neurohub Postdoctoral Fellowship…
2025 Comings and Goings— Karam Khateeb joins as a new postdoc, welcome!! Deepa leaves to start her independent faculty position at UC Riverside, congratulations! Kaeli receives her PhD and heads off for Univ. of Arizona as a full-time lecturer in Neuroscience. Lucia receives her PhD and remains as a postdoc.
2025 Publications — Congrats to Hannah for co-first author paper in PLoS Biology on develoment of cell types in S1 cortex (with Sal Butrus in Karthik Shekhar’s lab). Congrats to Pierre-Marie for first-author JoVE paper on ECoG recording methods. Congrats to Deepa for first-author paper in Nat. Commun. on attentional capture in S1.
2024 Awards — The lab gets a new R01 to study plasticity of inhibitory interneurons in sensory cortex. We are also awarded a R21, together with Na Ji’s group, to develop GEVI imaging to study systems neuroscience questions in S1 cortex. And we also receive a new R01, together with Kevin Bender and Nadav Ahituv at UCSF, to study the Scn2a mouse model of autism.
2024 Comings and Goings — Congratulations to Han Chin for his new independent position at the Academia Sinica in Taipei!
2024 Publications — Congrats to Laura for her authorship on Neuron paper on ASAP5 (led by Lin lab at Stanford). Congrats to Han Chin for his Cell Reports paper on degraded coding in Cntnap2 mice.
2023 Awards — Deepa is awarded a NIH K99 postdoctoral grant. Allison is awarded a NSF GRFP. Hannah is awarded a NIH F32 fellowship. Amazing and well-deserved, all!

2023 Publications — Congrats to Deepa, for her first-author paper in Current Biology on encoding of behavioral variables by VIP interneurons in S1. Congrats to Hannah and Han Chin, for their review of sensory cortex physiology in autism, published in Frontiers in Neurology!
2022 Awards — Laura is awarded an NSERC doctoral fellowship! Undergrad Amit Ahituv graduates and wins the Jeffrey Winer Award for excellence in Neurobiology!
2022 Comings and Goings — Allison Nieto joins as a PhD student, welcome Allison! Katie Smith, our incredible lab manager of 15 years, leaves to become an IACUC Admin at Charles River. We miss her very much! Pierre-Marie joins the lab as a postdoc, bringing many smiles and tales of his rabbits. Welcome!
